Oil/ canvas
120×120cm ×3
“SOMA” is a series of paintings from my diploma work, created at the Latvian Academy of Arts.
The triptych depicts two deformed bodies that convey what we feel but cannot always put into words. I was inspired by my own experience as an anxious person, when psychosomatics transforms thoughts and emotions into physical sensations and pain in the body. It is a state in which you freeze in a moment and lose a healthy sense of yourself and your connection to the surrounding world, only you and this state.
These reflections became the foundation of the work and an exploration of the fragile relationship between mind and body.
